22nd ANNUAL FISH CREEK WINTER FESTIVAL
(FORMERLY FISH CREEK WINTER GAMES)

This is a major Door County festival.

     Celebrating winter’s wonderland, Fish Creek will host a weekend of fun and frivolity February 6 - 8, 2009.  Winter Fest activities throughout the village will feature something to delight every age.  From spitting a cherry pit to sampling chili or an evening of rock & roll, the weekend’s activities will include food, music, and games. There's a firemen's pancake breakfast, “Kites Over the Bay” will paint the sky with a rainbow of color, the Peninsula Art School will serve up homemade soup in handcrafted pottery bowls, and the Door Community Auditorium will host the 5th Annual 2009 Door County Idol. Hop on the trolley for a free ride around town to check out the beautifully decorated shops, boutiques and parks. Dog sled rides and a gathering around small bonfires Friday evening!

Friday night

4 p.m.-6 p.m.: Community campfire – Music with Julian Hagen & some surprises at Fish Creek Beach

6:30 p.m.-10 p.m.: Rock-N-Roll Art Night at Hands On Art Studio Big Mouth Trio

 

Saturday

7 a.m.-12 p.m.: Great American Pancake Show at the Gibraltar Fire Station on Cty. F

9 a.m. – 11 a.m.: Build your own kite at the Northern Door YMCA

10 a.m.: Winter Festival Parade – come watch the goofy fun as it rambles down Hwy. 42 to Main St.

11 a.m.-4 p.m.: Kites Over the Bay at Fish Creek Beach Concessions: Beer, Food & 2009 Winter Festival memorabilia
Free Trolley rides around town and to the games
Dog Sled Rides from Fish Creek Beach
Bike Toss at Edge of Park and the Trillium Shop
Fish Boil Toss – at White Gull Inn (proceeds go to Girl Scouts)
Fish hoops – at Parkwood Lodge (proceeds go to Peninsula Players Theatre) Ice bowling – at Hat Head (proceeds go to Nor Door Athletics)
Kids Fishing Pond – at Noble Square (proceeds go to Gibraltar Historical Association)
Kids Treasure Hunt at Top of the Hill Shops
Kick-a-Fish & Football toss – at Noble Square (proceeds go to Door County United soccer team)
Miniature Golf – at Founders Square (proceeds go to Wellness Center of Door County)
Prize-in-a-Fish – at Santa Fe Shop (proceeds go to Family Centers of Door County)
Snowshoe dance at J. Jeffrey Taylor Jewelers
Family-friendly games & activities: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.:
Winter Wine & Cherry Fest at Orchard Country Winery & Market; Live music from 1-4 p.m., winter sleigh rides all day
11 a.m.-3 p.m.: Homemade soups and bowls at Peninsula School of Art
11 a.m.-3 p.m.: Chainsaw wood carving by Dave Bartels at HideSide Corner Store
11 a.m.-TBD: 4-on-4 Ice Volleyball Tournament
12 p.m.-4 p.m.: Goldfish Races – at Hands On Art Studio (proceeds go to Door County Humane Society) with a Trolley to Hands On every 15 minutes
1 p.m.-4 p.m.: Pie Tin Toss at Sweetie Pies in the Settlement Shops (proceeds go to Sustain Door)
2 p.m.: Cherry Pit Spit at Orchard Country Winery & Market (proceeds go to Fish Creek Civic Association)
5:30 p.m.-8 p.m.: Candlelight Ski at Peninsula State Park
7 p.m.: Door County Idol at the Door Community Auditorium
9 p.m.: Live Music at Alexander’s Restaurant with Big Mouth

 

Sunday

Kites Over the Bay at Fish Creek Beach
9-11 a.m.: Chili Cook-Off entries accepted
11 a.m.-12 p.m.: Chili Cook-Off judging
12 p.m.: Chili Cook-Off winners announced and bowls of chili available for sale Raffle drawings after Chili Cook-Off winners announced! BIG Raffle prizes include: A 10’ Wilderness Systems Pamlico 100 Kayak Fishing shanty built by Door County Habitat for Humanity
