Door County is an outdoor paradise in all four seasons. Each season has its own special flavor, and there always seems to be something going on for people who love the outdoors. So bring your camera, your binoculars, your compass, and even your GPS device. There is much to explore everywhere, whether it be in the quaint villages, along the expansive shoreline, in the country, or out on the waters of Green Bay or Lake Michigan.
This section of our website is a bit of a catch-all for all things outdoors in Door County. (Golf is such a huge topic that it has its own section on this website.) Whatever we write here will of course just scratch the surface of what the peninsula offers its visitors.

Geocaching - There is also a relatively new outdoor activity taking place in Door County called Geocaching. Somewhat like a scavenger hunt, geocachers use a handheld GPS (Global Postioning System) device to locate hidden clues and "treasures" placed in various outdoor locations by other geocaching enthusiasts. Many such "caches" consist of a small bottle or other container within which is sealed an object or a message. Hiding places range in difficulty and obscurity to add to the challenge of the hobby. Some cache locations are actually in fairly obvious places but go largely unnoticed to the casual eye. Door County has hosted only a few geocaching events, but the hobby is growing and is greatly enhanced by various internet sites promoting the hobby and announcing geocaching events in various geographic locations. We'll be happy to host a geocachers page for Door County on this website should there be an interest to do so. You can read a lot more about geocaching at the
Wisconsin Geocaching Association website.
